The Clothesline Project

Many Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) residents, particularly young women, have experienced violence in their lives.  Many have held in their feelings of fear, despair, anger, and resentment. The JJC Clothesline Project provides an artistic way for women to express their feelings and to describe personal experiences of violence, which may otherwise be difficult for them to express.  In short, it is an avenue for recovery for youth who have been victims of rape, incest, abuse, sexual assault, and for friends and family of women who have died as a result of such violence.
